Who are we

SENECA is the Swedish Network for Early Career Astronomers and is organised by early-career astronomers, for early-career astronomers. SENECA is open to all PhD students and post-doctoral researchers in Sweden of all fields of astronomy!

The main objective of SENECA is to form a strong network between early-career astronomers in Sweden by organising relevant events and engaging in different projects. Our hope is that by creating a space specifically set up for early career scientists, we will have the opportunity to hear about each other’s research, create some collaborations, and most importantly, make some friends!

We also hope to be a safe and inclusive space, as well as a resource and support network for new arrivals that may have questions about adjusting to life in Sweden.
Välkommen till Sverige!

SENECA launched during Astronomdagarna 2022 in Gothenburg.

The people behind SENECA

Picture of Linn

Linn Boldt-Christmas

My name is Linn and I am a PhD student at Uppsala University studying exoplanet atmospheres. I’m originally from Sweden and am so excited to have a network for all the amazing people doing astronomy in my country!

Picture of Thiebaut

Thiébaut Schirmer

My name is Thiébaut. I am a post-doctoral researcher at Chalmers and originally from France. Where there is dust, I am! Primarily working on dust in photon-dominated regions, I am now mostly working on dust in AGB environments.

Picture of Bibi

Bibiana Prinoth

My name is Bibi and I am a PhD student at Lund University studying the atmospheres of ultra-hot Jupiters. I moved to Sweden in the summer of 2020 and have since fallen in love with this country. My wish for SENECA is to be an inclusive network that offers its members many opportunities to develop, excel and succeed.
